This vintage piece is an oil pastel on newspaper, measuring 13 x 10 inches and hand-signed by Britto himself in the lower right corner. The painting depicts a beautiful young lady and is framed at a height of 18 inches and a width of 15 inches.

Britto painted this portrait on the pages of the Florida Review, the first newspaper in Florida written in Portuguese, when he couldn’t afford canvases. As the publisher of the newspaper at the time, I had the honor of being the recipient of this painting as a gesture of gratitude for welcoming Britto to America.

The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity from Britto Central, as well as many letters and photos from that time, further attesting to its unique historical value.
